James W. Fowler was a professor at Emory University until he retired.  His most famous contribution is his book entitled Stages of Faith which looks at how people develop their faith, morals, and values.

Lawrence J. Walker is a professor at the University of British Colombia.  He has written several articles and books.  One of his articles, " A longitudinal Study of Moral Reasoning" in Child Development in 1989 compared Lawrence Kohlberg's and Carol Gilligan's moral development theories, and was one of the researchers that dismissed Gilligan's notion that Kohlberg downplayed females' moral development.
